...Extreme Cold over the Eastern Interior Ending Friday...

Temperatures in the 40s and 50s below continue across the Eastern
Interior west of Fairbanks this morning. The area east of Fairbanks
had clouds and light snow develop overnight causing temperatures
to rise into 20s and 30s below east of Fairbanks.

The clouds moved west over Fairbanks about 4am this morning
causing the Fairbanks temperature to rise into the 30s below and
allowing ice fog to thin some. Fairbanks is on western edge of the
clouds...and will clear out about 8am this morning. As the clouds
clear...the temperature will fall back below 40 below after 8am
this morning with ice fog will become more dense.

A weather system moving over the Interior late tonight and Friday
is expected to bring an end to the very cold temperatures...although
temperatures will remain in the 15 to 30 below range through the
weekend.
