* TIMING...Winds will change little through the daylight hours,
  but decrease somewhat shortly after sunset.

* WINDS...Northwest winds should reach sustained speeds of 30 to
  40 mph, and even 45 mph in a few spots. Wind gusts of 40 to 50
  mph will be common, and a few may approach 60 mph.

* IMPACTS...Winds of this magnitude may blow loose objects such as
  Christmas decorations and make travel for high profile vehicles
  difficult. Fire weather conditions will also be elevated in
  areas that do not receive sufficient precipitation. Any fires
  may spread quickly.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Wind Advisory means that sustained winds of 30 mph or wind

...Strong Northwest Winds This Afternoon...

Strong northwest winds will create difficult travel for
lightweight and high-profile vehicles and blow loose objects
around. Plan on sustained winds of 20 to 30 mph, with gusts to 35
to 45 mph across open areas of southeast Minnesota and northeast
Iowa through mid-afternoon. The winds should begin to decrease by
evening.
