...RAIN TO SLEET TO SNOW WILL BRING SLICK TRAVEL OVER MUCH OF THE
REGION LATER TONIGHT AND THURSDAY...

.AN ARCTIC FRONT EXITS THE AREA BY THIS EVENING THEN COLDER AIR
WILL BE CHANGING ANY RAIN TO SLEET...THEN SNOW AS WE HEAD THROUGH
THE OVERNIGHT INTO THURSDAY. THE WINTRY WEATHER WILL MAKE IT EAST
OF THE BLUE RIDGE AFTER DAWN...BUT MAY NOT REACH PORTIONS OF THE
PIEDMONT UNTIL AFTER MIDDAY. SOME PATCHY FREEZING RAIN WILL ALSO
BE POSSIBLE IN THE MOUNTAINS DURING THE TRANSITION.

  NORTH CAROLINA MOUNTAINS...AND MOUNTAIN EMPIRE OF SOUTHWEST
  VIRGINIA.

* HAZARD TYPES...FREEZING RAIN...SLEET AND SNOW.

* ACCUMULATIONS...SNOW AND SLEET ACCUMULATION OF 1 TO 3
  INCHES...WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE NORTHWEST OF
  INTERSTATE 81. LESS THAN A TENTH OF AN INCH OF ICE IN ISOLATED
  AREAS.

* TIMING...RAIN WILL CHANGE TO FREEZING RAIN AND SLEET AFTER
  MIDNIGHT TONIGHT...THEN CHANGE TO MAINLY SNOW BETWEEN DAWN AND
  MIDDAY.

* IMPACTS...SNOW...SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN WILL LEAD TO
  HAZARDOUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS.

* WINDS...NORTHWEST 5 TO 15 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 30 MPH.

* TEMPERATURES...FALLING INTO THE MID 20S TO AROUND 30 THURSDAY.
