Official NWS streamflow forecasts are produced by NWS hydrologic forecasters for river gauge locations using hydrologic models which are calibrated to that location. This process considers additional guidance and information, including local expertise and experience, to produce the best forecast possible. The NWM output provides supplemental guidance to NWS forecasters and should not be considered an official NWS river forecast.
Flood Impacts
- 1005 - areas along Big Cottonwood Creek from the east side of the valley to the Jordan River may experience record flooding and major damage to structures located near the stream.
- 944 - areas along Big Cottonwood Creek from the east side of the valley to the Jordan River can expect large scale flood damage. Especially susceptible will be those areas on low lying banks and structures built close to the creek.
- 796 - minor flooding can be expected from the east end of the valley near Big Cottonwood Creek to the Jordan River. Flooding will impact those living near the stream in low banked areas as well as structures built close to the river channel.
