7.5 WIDESPREAD FLOODING IS IN PROGRESS OR IS IMMINENT ALONG THE UPPER PECOS RIVER MAINLY ABOVE THE TOWN OF PECOS. PORTIONS OF STATE ROUTE 63 NORTH OF THE FISH HATCHERY ARE UNDER WATER. PRIVATE BRIDGES OVER THE UPPER PECOS RIVER MAY BE WASHED AWAY AND HOMES OR CABINS ALONG THE RIVER COULD EXPERIENCE SIGNIFICANT FLOOD DAMAGE. THE CURRENT FLOOD SITUATION IS ALREADY THE WORST EPISODE SINCE AT LEAST 1904. FURTHER WATER LEVEL RISES WOULD INCREASE THE DAMAGE ALONG THE UPPER PECOS RIVER.
6 WATER THREATENS THOSE CABINS AND HOMES NEAREST THE RIVER ALONG THE UPPER PECOS. THE PECOS RIVER ABOVE THE TOWN OF PECOS HAS NOT BEEN THIS HIGH SINCE 1929. PORTIONS OF STATE ROAD 63 ABOVE THE FISH HATCHERY MAY BE IMPASSABLE DUE TO WATER OVER THE ROAD. PRIVATE BRIDGES ON THE UPPER PECOS RIVER ABOVE THE TOWN OF PECOS MAY BECOME IMPASSABLE OR FACE THE THREAT OF BEING WASHED AWAY BY THE FAST FLOWING WATER.
5 THE FAST FLOW IN THE UPPER PECOS IS A THREAT TO PROPERTY DUE TO THE EFFECTS OF BANK EROSION ALLOWING RIVER WATER TO APPROACH HOMES AND CABINS NEAREST THE RIVER. PRIVATE BRIDGES OVER THE UPPER PECOS COULD LOCALLY AGGRAVATE FLOODING AS DEBRIS ACCUMULATES ALONG THE UPSTREAM SIDES OF BRIDGES. FURTHER WATER LEVEL RISES MAY MAKE PRIVATE BRIDGES UNSAFE TO CROSS AND ISOLATE RESIDENTS.
