Graphical representation of flood inundation for NWS flood categories are based on steady state hydraulic modeling of water surface elevations for incremented discharges. Map shows approximate inundation areas for given water surface elevations and should not be used for navigation or permitting or other legal purposes, but strictly as a planning reference tool.

Site-specific information:
The North Frankfort Levee System was designed to overtop at 51.5 ft and the South Frankfort Levee System was designed to overtop at 51 ft, assuming all sandbag lines, temporary protection and levee closure structures are in place. The scenario presented on AHPS assumes that the levee/floodwall closure structures within the levee/floodwall system are in place; however, the temporary protection measures created by placing sandbag lines along the streets, outside of the flood protection system, are not assumed to be in place. Thus, floodwaters will flow around the levee system at a stage of 49.0 ft, unless the temporary protection measures are constructed. In addition, flooding is not shown on the map for the W Clinton St. and Mero St. tunnels at the Capital Plaza, however, these tunnels may flood at river stages that equal or exceed 49 ft. In addition, the highway overpass at Wilkinson Blvd (421) and Holmes Street (2261) will be clear of floodwaters for all mapped elevations; the Holmes Street (2261) underpass will be flooded at river stages that equal or exceed 49 ft.
