Map shows approximate inundation areas for given water surface elevations and should not be used for navigation or permitting or other legal purposes, but strictly as a planning reference tool.

Site-specific information:
Levee embankments are present in the city of Cedar Rapids. All levee embankments were removed from the model to illustrate a scenario where the levees provide no protection from flooding. This mapping scenario illustrates how flooding may occur if the levees fail during a flood event. In addition, the protection of sandbags, HESCO barriers and other temporary flood protection measures were not modeled in this scenario. These inundation maps for the Cedar River at Cedar Rapids were developed by the Iowa Flood Center, and made available on this site through funding by the National Weather Service.

Rating Curve Extension - The Rating Curve Extension is calculated by using either a linear, logarithmic, or hydraulic technique to extend the rating curve above the currently established relationship between stage and flow.
