...Hard Freeze Conditions Early This Morning...
...Elevated Fire Danger Today...

Very cold and dry surface high pressure have allowed temperatures
to drop into the middle 20s throughout the Quad State early this
morning. Some more sheltered areas could even drop into the lower
20s. Although the growing season has not officially started,
tender vegetation could be impacted by these cold temperatures.

Southwest winds will increase significantly later this morning,
with gusts of 25 to 35 mph forecast in the afternoon. Along with
relative humidity values falling into the 20 to 30 percent range,
these gusty winds will create an elevated fire danger throughout
the Quad State. If you are planning outdoor burning today, use
extra caution and have fire suppression equipment ready.

...Hard Freeze this Morning...
...Elevated Fire Weather Danger Today...

Below freezing temperatures around the low and mid 20s are
expected this morning. Although the growing season has not
officially started yet, per coordination with state agricultural
partners, early blooming vegetation will likely be harmed or
killed by this hard freeze.

Gusty southwest winds between 25 to 35 mph with isolated gusts up
to 40 mph are expected today, mainly from late morning through
the early evening. Use caution when driving or operating a high
profile vehicle and secure outdoor objects.

In addition to the strong and gusty winds, the airmass will be
very dry resulting in low relative humidity. The combination of
these windy conditions and dry air will result in elevated fire
danger today, and possibly again tomorrow. Outdoor burning is not
recommended as any fire could grow out of control rather quickly.

...Hard Freeze this Morning...
...Elevated Fire Weather Danger Today...

Outdoor burning is not
recommended as any fire could grow out of control rather quickly.

expected this morning.

An enhanced risk of wildfires will occur today and into the first
part of the evening, as relative humidity falls to near, or
below, 20 percent, along with southwest wind gusts of 20 to 30
mph, in places. Locations near I-64 could see a few wind gusts
above 30 mph during the afternoon.
