...HIGH WIND WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 10 PM THIS EVENING TO
6 PM PST THURSDAY...

* WHAT...Northeast winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts 35 to 55 mph
  expected. Isolated gusts to in favored passes and canyons in
  excess of 65 mph.

* WHERE...Mountains, valleys, inland Orange County, and the San
  Gorgonio Pass.

* WHEN...From 10 PM this evening to 6 PM PST Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines.
  Power outages are possible. Travel will be difficult to drive
  in, as well as lower visibilities due to blowing dust.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Periods of gusty winds, though not as
  strong, will continue Thursday night into Friday morning.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

People should avoid being outside in forested areas and around
trees and branches. If possible, remain in the lower levels of
your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Use caution if
you must drive.

* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.

.Fresh long period northwest swell will generate widespread
elevated surf at the beaches beginning late Thursday, with locally
high surf for some San Diego County beaches. This will lead to a
high risk of rip currents and dangerous swimming conditions.

...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT IN EFFECT FROM THURSDAY AFTERNOON
THROUGH LATE FRIDAY NIGHT...

The National Weather Service in San Diego has issued a Beach
Hazards Statement...which is in effect from Thursday afternoon
through late Friday night.

* Waves and Surf...4 to 7 feet in San Diego County, with highest
  sets in the southern half of the county that may near 8 feet on
  Friday. Sets of 3 to 6 feet can be expected for Orange County
  beaches.

* Timing...Thursday evening through Saturday morning, with highest
  surf on Friday.

* Impacts...High risk of rip currents, and dangerous swimming
  conditions.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A beach hazards statement is issued when threats such as strong
rip currents...elevated surf heights...minor tidal overflow...or
lightning are possible at local beaches.  Obey posted warning
signs and flags and talk to a lifeguard before swimming.  Use
caution when in or near the water and always swim near a
lifeguard.

  night and Thursday with winds not as strong nor widespread for
  Friday and Saturday.
