.Runoff from recent heavy rainfall has caused rises along the
Mississippi River.

River forecasts take into account both observed and forecast
precipitation.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Do not drive cars into flooded areas. Remember, it only takes two
feet of water to float most automobiles, including sport utility
vehicles. Turn Around, Don`t Drown!

  The Mississippi River at Wabasha.
* from Thursday evening until further notice...Or until the warning
  is cancelled.
* At  8:15 PM Wednesday the stage was 11.2 feet.
* Flood stage is 12.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage Thursday evening and rise to
  near 13.2 feet this weekend.
* Impact...At 13.0 feet...The railroad underpass on Highway 60 may be
  flooded. Flooding is also possible along Lawrence Boulevard and
  Main Street East. Some businesses near the river may be flooded.

  Thursday evening. The river will fall below flood stage Sunday.
* Impact...At 13.0 feet...The basements of businesses along the river
  begin to flood.

  The Wisconsin River At Portage.
* At  9:00 PM Wednesday the stage was 17.1 feet.
* Flood stage is 17.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 17.2 feet by
  after midnight. The river will fall below flood stage
  early Friday morning.
* Impact...At 17.0 feet...There is general overflow of the river.
  Water is near homes in the Blackhawk Park area of Portage on the
  south side of the river along Old River Road. Floodwaters are over
  West Lake Road and Blackhawk Road in the Blackhawk Park area.

The Flood Warning continues for
  The Fox River Near New Munster.
* At  9:00 PM Wednesday the stage was 11.6 feet.
* Flood stage is 11.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 11.8 feet by
  tomorrow early afternoon. The river will fall below flood stage
  Sunday early afternoon.
* Impact...At 11.8 feet...Floodwaters surround a home at the
  intersection of Highway 50 and Highway W in the Town of Wheatland
  area. Water is about 8 inches deep over 77th Street in the Town of
  Wheatland area. Water is in the back yards of some homes in the
  Village of Salem Lakes area. This level is the 50 percent chance
  flood meaning there is a 50 percent chance in any given year of the
  river reaching this level.

...Flooding possible along The Mississippi River and Yellow River...

Heavy rainfall across portions of central Minnesota into central
and Northern Wisconsin the past few days has resulted in runoff
and rising water levels along the Mississippi and Yellow rivers.

Mississippi River at Winona...The stage this evening was 9.5 feet.
Flood stage is 13.0 feet. The river is forecast to rise above flood
stage this weekend, and reach 13.8 feet early next week.

Mississippi River at La Crosse...The stage this evening was 8.8
feet. Flood stage is 12.0 feet. The river is forecast to rise above
flood stage this weekend, and reach 12.50 feet early next week.

Mississippi River at McGregor...The stage this evening was 11.5
feet. Flood stage is 16.0 feet. The river is forecast to rise above
flood stage early next week, and reach 16.8 feet middle of next week.

Mississippi River at Guttenberg Dam 10...The stage this evening was
10.2 feet. Flood stage is 15.0 feet. The river is forecast to rise
above flood stage early next week Tuesday and reach 15.3 feet
middle of next week.

Yellow River at Necedah...The stage this evening was 11.3 feet.
Flood stage is 15.0 feet. The river is forecast to rise above flood
stage Friday morning, and reach 15.4 feet Friday afternoon.
