...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM AKDT FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Minor flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Chena River Upstream of the Moose Creek Dam

* WHEN...Until 400 PM AKDT Friday.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas such
  as parking lots, boat launches, picnic areas and campgrounds in
  the Chena River Recreation area. Low lying roads and driveways
  near the Chena River upstream of the Moose Creek Dam may become
  impassable.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 512 AM AKDT, Heavy rain that fell over the Upper Chena
    River Monday through early Wednesday is causing high water
    and minor flooding on the Upper Chena River. The river gauge
    at the the Mile 38 Bridge on Chena Hot Springs Road is at
    20.45 feet and rising slowly. It is expected that the river
    will crest at the Mile 38 bridge later this morning and cause
    minor flooding of low lying areas of the Chena Rec Area. This
    crest of high water and minor flooding will move downstream
    to the Hunts Creek area this afternoon, and to the Moose
    Creek Dam late tonight or early Friday.

  - Parking areas, low lying roads, and boat ramps will be
    flooded. Gravel bars will be under water. Logs and debris
    will float down the river.
  -   - For Chena River near Two Rivers:
    At 5:00am the stage was 20.45 feet.

People along the Chena River upstream of the Moose Creek Dam should
prepare for minor flooding.

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...The Salcha River

* WHEN...Until 400 PM AKDT Friday.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
  Erosion of the river bank will occur. Trees and other debris will
  come down the river.


* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 536 AM AKDT, Heavy rain that fell over the Salcha River
    Monday through Wednesday is causing high water and minor
    flooding on the Upper Salcha River. A resident on the Salcha
    River 30 miles upstream of the Richardson Highway Bridge
    reported minor flooding at 7pm Wednesday with the water still
    rising. It is expected that the Salcha River is now cresting
    upstream of River mile 30, with the high water moving
    downstream and cresting at the Richardson Highway Bridge late
    this morning or early this afternoon.
  - Gravel bars will be under water. Logs and debris will float
    down the river.
  - For Salcha River near Salchaket:
    At 5:00am the stage was 12.3 feet.
    Flood Stage is 14.0 feet.
    Forecast: A crest around 14.0 feet is expected around 10:00am
    Thursday.

People along the Salcha River should prepare for minor flooding.
