This process considers additional guidance and information, including local expertise and experience, to produce the best forecast possible. The NWM output provides supplemental guidance to NWS forecasters and should not be considered an official NWS river forecast.
Flood Impacts
- 9.21 - Flood of Record occurred on August 16, 2016. At this level, widespread flooding will inundate all major roads, including sections of LA Highways 16 and 22. Evaucations will be necessary. Water will back up on Bell Bayou, King George Bayou, and Old River.
- 7 - Evacuations will be necssary for low-lying areas. Many roads will be inundated over the region, including sections of LA Highways 16 and 22. Some evcacuations may be necessary.
- 6 - Louisiana Highway 16 at Port Vincent will be closed due to high water. Louisiana Trace will be impassable. Persistant east to southeast wind and high tides on Lake Maurepas will maintain high river stages.
