National Water Model Hydrograph
Official NWS streamflow forecasts are produced by NWS hydrologic forecasters for river gauge locations using hydrologic models which are calibrated to that location. This process considers additional guidance and information, including local expertise and experience, to produce the best forecast possible. The NWM output provides supplemental guidance to NWS forecasters and should not be considered an official NWS river forecast.
Flood Impacts
- 35 - High banks on the north side of the river overflow. Major flooding occurs throughout the Gila River valley. This level is below the flood of record, 200,000 cfs, which occurred on January 22nd, 1916.
- 30 - Major damage occurs throughout the area. All but the highest banks overflow in the immediate area of the gage.
- 26.81 - Peak flow of March 3rd, 1993 is reached. This is the flow of record since Painted Rock Dam was constructed. Extensive flooding occurs along the Gila River.
