National Water Model Hydrograph
Official NWS streamflow forecasts are produced by NWS hydrologic forecasters for river gauge locations using hydrologic models which are calibrated to that location. This process considers additional guidance and information, including local expertise and experience, to produce the best forecast possible. The NWM output provides supplemental guidance to NWS forecasters and should not be considered an official NWS river forecast.
Flood Impacts
- 953 - Major flooding is forecast for Murray Park and structures adjacent to the park. Ponding is anticipated to impact State St. near the park and traffic will be affected in the northbound lanes. Any structure adjacent to Little Cottonwood Creek is in danger of structural damage due to the high flows. Damage at the early stages of the flood will take the shape of extensive bank erosion leading to structural damage. Areas near the Willows condos, Wheeler Farm, and all structures lining the banks are at risk.
- 901 - Moderate flooding is forecast for Murray Park, and structures adjacent to the park. Additionally, flooding will occur on State St. in the northbound lanes at the park. Any structure lining Little Cottonwood Creek in the town of Murray is at risk for flood damage. These areas include the Willows condominiums, Wheeler Farm, and areas upstream from Murray Park.
- 799 - Minor flooding is expected at Murray Park, and buildings adjacent to the park. Flooding and ponding of water is anticipated on State St. in the northbound lanes. Structures in Murray just upstream and downstream of Murray Park along Little Cottonwood Creek can expect extensive erosion, and most likely structural damage. These areas include the Willows condominiums, Wheeler Farm, and structures built on Little Cottonwood Creek from the mouth of the canyon to the confluence of the Jordan River.
