This process considers additional guidance and information, including local expertise and experience, to produce the best forecast possible. The NWM output provides supplemental guidance to NWS forecasters and should not be considered an official NWS river forecast.
Flood Impacts
- 6.5 - Widespread shoreline inundation is occurring, with water reaching structures on both sides of the river. Cobb Island is cut off from the mainland. Numerous roads and buildings are affected.
- 5 - Water is expected to cover yards and docks in Dahlgren and on Cobb Island. A half foot of water covers Cobb Island Road/State Route 254, severely limiting the ability to traverse from Cobb Island to the mainland. Also water approaches structures near Cobb Island.
- 3.5 - Water is expected to reach yards near Cobb Island and docks near Dahlgren.
