National Water Model Hydrograph
Official NWS streamflow forecasts are produced by NWS hydrologic forecasters for river gauge locations using hydrologic models which are calibrated to that location. This process considers additional guidance and information, including local expertise and experience, to produce the best forecast possible. The NWM output provides supplemental guidance to NWS forecasters and should not be considered an official NWS river forecast.
Flood Impacts
- 30 - At a tailwater stage of 30 feet at Remmel Dam, the flow rate is approximately 100000 cfs. Serious flooding in Hot Spring and Clark counties. Road closures and flooded pastures. Some homes in the Donaldson and Friendship communities may be flooded. With heavy rainfall downstream of Remmel Dam, major flooding at Arkadelphia is possible.
- 26.6 - Flow rate is now near 80000 cfs. Situation becoming very seriouis with possible road closures and homes flooding in vicinity of Donaldson in Hot Spring County. NWS issues another flood warning for Hot Spring County whenever flow rate exceeds this level and again at 90000, 100000, and every other increase of 10000 cfs. Discharge from Remmel Dam exceeded 82000 cfs in April and September 2008. Ouachita River at Arkadelphia may exceed 25 feet if releases of 80000 cfs persist for several hours.
- 24.7 - At this stage the Remmel Dam Tailwater will produce a stage at the Rockport Bridge of approximately 23 feet. Flow rate is near 70000 cfs. Whenever flows from Remmel Dam reach this level, another flood warning is issued for Hot Spring County. Some homes near Donaldson may be affected. Road closures possible with locally heavy rainfall. Moderate river flooding at Arkadelphia possible.
