National Water Model Hydrograph
Official NWS streamflow forecasts are produced by NWS hydrologic forecasters for river gauge locations using hydrologic models which are calibrated to that location. This process considers additional guidance and information, including local expertise and experience, to produce the best forecast possible. The NWM output provides supplemental guidance to NWS forecasters and should not be considered an official NWS river forecast.
Flood Impacts
- 12 - Flooding of historic proportions. Many areas in Panacea, Ochlockonee Bay, and Mashes Sands are flooded by water of at least 8 feet deep, if not higher. Homes not elevated in these areas will likely be destroyed. At this level flooding water could reach as far north as US-98 (between Spring Creek and Wakulla Beach Rd.). Homes south of US-98 in this area will have flooded yards. Homes further south will see more significant flooding.
- 9 - Catastrophic flooding of Panacea, Ochlockonee and Mashes Sands. In Panacea, much of the area east of US-98 is flooded by water up to 5 ft deep. Meanwhile, flooding extends west of US-98 and Otter Rd floods up to 2-3 feet deep. Access to Panacea along US-98 becomes impossible. In Ochlockonee Bay, Pelican Bay Road becomes flooded up to 3 feet in some sections making access to homes along Elberta and Simmons Ct. impossible. Portions of Spring Creek, Shell Point, and surrounding areas are flooded up to 6 feet.
- 6.01 - Areas along Ochlockonee Bay near the US-98 bridge in Wakulla County flood up to 2 feet deep. Access to Mashes Sands Beach beyond the bridge is impossible. Structures not elevated in Bay, Spring Creek, Shell Point, Live Oak Point and surrounding areas will be heavily damaged or destroyed.
