National Water Model Hydrograph
Official NWS streamflow forecasts are produced by NWS hydrologic forecasters for river gauge locations using hydrologic models which are calibrated to that location. This process considers additional guidance and information, including local expertise and experience, to produce the best forecast possible. The NWM output provides supplemental guidance to NWS forecasters and should not be considered an official NWS river forecast.
Flood Impacts
- 11 - Disastrous flooding of the Vanceboro area on the north side of the river, to the lower Swift Creek. Travel nearly impossible, with many homes inundated by floodwaters.
- 8.5 - Widespread flooding of the southern Vanceboro area, with numerous roads flooded and impassable. Several homes near the river are inundated, with more surrounded by water.
- 6.5 - River Road is flooded and likely impassable in several locations as small tributaries flood. Other low lying roads in the area are likely to be water covered as well. Water surrounds homes at the end of Cow Pen Landing Road, and on Elane Drive. Water may also threaten residences off of Ayden Drive, Chips Road, and Craven Road.
