Official NWS streamflow forecasts are produced by NWS hydrologic forecasters for river gauge locations using hydrologic models which are calibrated to that location. This process considers additional guidance and information, including local expertise and experience, to produce the best forecast possible. The NWM output provides supplemental guidance to NWS forecasters and should not be considered an official NWS river forecast.
Flood Impacts
- 24 - expect major flooding. Historically, numerous homes and the Willapa Hatchery at Fork Creek have been completely flooded at this point, along with major flooding of numerous roads from Frances downstream to Raymond, including State Route 6 and US Hwy 101.
- 22 - expect widespread flooding. Numerous roads are flooded with deep and swiftly moving water, including Heckard Road and US Hwy 101. The magnitude of flooding on Hwy 101 will depend on the tide.
- 21 - expect flooding of several roads along the river, including Heckard Road. Portions of US Hwy 101 may be flooded as well if flood crest corresponds to high tide. Also expect minor flooding in Raymond.
