Web Portal Changes: In Spring 2024, the Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service (AHPS) hosted at https://water.weather.gov will be replaced by the National Water Prediction Service (NWPS) at a repurposed https://water.noaa.gov. A preview of NWPS is available here, where you can see your station hydrograph by replacing SSSSS with the station 5-character id: https://preview.water.noaa.gov/gauges/SSSSS.

Flood Inundation Mapping: Experimental real-time flood Inundation mapping services for 10% of the United States are now available via the NWS Map Viewer. Additional products and geospatial services depicting River Forecast Center and National Water Model forecasts continue to be accessible as described in the StoryMap here.

Please visit https://www.weather.gov/owp/operations for more information.

NOTE: Please refer to our Coastal Hazard Message for specific information regarding Coastal Flood Watches, Warnings and Advisories. Actual impacts from any coastal flooding event may vary due to factors such as rainfall, wave action, and the number of tide cycles during which there is an onshore flow. During tropical cyclones, please refer here for additional storm surge information.

NOTE: During a Tropical Storm or Hurricane Watch or Warning, inundation mapping provided by the National Hurricane Center (go to the web site and select the storm of interest) reflects a reasonable worst case scenario. The forecast above is the total water forecast that is most likely to occur.

NOTE: Forecasts for the Buzzards Bay at Woods Hole (IN MLLW) are issued routinely year-round.

10 Flooding of this magnitude rivals the flooding that occurred during the Hurricane of 1938 and Hurricane Carol. Life threatening flooding more than 3 feet deep affects coastal roads from Falmouth to Hyannisport. Follow the instructions of local officials and evacuate if asked to do so. Find alternate travel routes.
8 This extent of flooding is rarely seen and can be life threatening. Many coastal roads from Falmouth to Hyannisport are flooded with water more than 3 feet deep. Debris washes onto roads when large waves occur. Follow the advice of local officials and find alternate travel routes.
6.7 Widespread flooding of coastal areas from Falmouth to Hyannisport is expected. Some roads may be impassable with 1 to 2 feet of water including portions of Church Street, SurfDrive, Menahaunt Road, and Ocean Avenue. Wave action can bring debris onto immediatecoastal roads.
5.5 Minor flooding of low lying coastal areas in Falmouth is expected. Flooding around high tide affects portions of Church Street, Surf Drive, Menahaunt Road, and Ocean Avenue. Portions of these roads may be temporarily impassable.
