NOTE: Forecasts are issued as needed during times of high water, but are not routinely available.
River forecasts for this location take into account past precipitation and the precipitation amounts expected approximately 24 hours into the future from the forecast issuance time.
National Water Model Hydrograph
Official NWS streamflow forecasts are produced by NWS hydrologic forecasters for river gauge locations using hydrologic models which are calibrated to that location. This process considers additional guidance and information, including local expertise and experience, to produce the best forecast possible. The NWM output provides supplemental guidance to NWS forecasters and should not be considered an official NWS river forecast.
Flood Impacts
- 30 - or 9.1 meters, major lowland flooding occurs. Water is several feet deep over most of the mall and customs parking lots. The lowest residences are threatened and roads and low bridges become very dangerous.
- 28 - or 8.5 meters, the flow reaches the height of left bank. Flow exceeds left bank near the gauge. Most of customs and mall parking lots are inundated downstream in Laredo. The lowest residences are threatened in Laredo and Nuevo Laredo. Livestock, pumps, and equipment in the river channel are flooded
- 24 - or 7.3 meters, moderate lowland flooding occurs, and cuts off livestock, irrigation pumps, and equipment above eagle pass to below Laredo. Autos and trucks flood in the customs and mall parking lots downstream in Laredo.
