National Water Model Hydrograph
Official NWS streamflow forecasts are produced by NWS hydrologic forecasters for river gauge locations using hydrologic models which are calibrated to that location. This process considers additional guidance and information, including local expertise and experience, to produce the best forecast possible. The NWM output provides supplemental guidance to NWS forecasters and should not be considered an official NWS river forecast.
Flood Impacts
- 7 - Flood stage. Low lying area flooding intensifies and becomes more widespread upstream and downstream of the gage. Access to the gage and bridge becomes severely impacted. Lowland flooding becomes more widespread in the town of Elk Mountain. Flood wave travel time to the town of Elk Mountain is three to five hours.
- 6 - Bankfull stage. Minor flooding of low lying areas occurs upstream and downstream of the gage. Water encroaches low lying areas near the bridge at the gage house. Lowland flooding occurs in the town of Elk Mountain. Peak flow travel time to the town of Elk Mountain is four to six hours.
