30 A major flood in progress. For only the 3rd time since August 1875, the Eel River flowed around the north side of Worthington in June 2008 and made Worthington nearly an island for about a day. Based on the Elliston and Newberry crests the June 2008 flood was higher than March 1913. US Highway 231 and the railroad line immediately southwest of Worthington were completely flooded to the Indiana Highway 57 intersection. Flooding of a few homes and numerous basements occurred in Worthington.
