25 Water overtops the Lake Street bridge. The city of Elmira is protected by levees up to 25 feet.
23 North bank of Chemung river at Madison Avenue and Lake Street in Elmira will run over the top. Water enters Hickling Steam Station and pumps must be operated. The city is protected by levees up to 25 feet.
20 In the City of Elmira, evacuations began during the flood of 1972 caused by remnants of Hurricane Agnes. The city is protected by levees to 25 feet.
19 Major flooding begins. Homes on Morningside Drive and Country Club Drive have water on first floor. Flooding closes state route 225 and 352 near Fitch's Bridge. The city of Elmira is protected by levees up to 25 feet.
15 The City of Elmira is protected to 25 feet by levees. Moderate flooding begins in area outside of the flood protection, such as areas in and around Big Flats.
12 Minor flooding begins for areas without protective levees. Note: the City of Elmira is protected by levees to 25 feet.
