30 Water will be over the bridge at Louisiana Highway 16 east of Amite. Debris in the water will threaten the bridge structure. Amite Cemetery at Highway 16 will remain flooded. The community of Shiloh east of Highway 51 will be flooded, as will lower sections of Independence. Whispering Pines Campground will be inundated. Back water will flood the southern end of Big Creek threatening homes at the lower end of South Big Creek Road in Amite. Interstate 55 will be closed.
29.28 Flood of Record occurred August 12, 2016. Extensive flooding will develop and evacuations will be necessary. Areas roads will be inundated and travel will be impaired on LA Highway 16. Interstate 55 will be flooded north of Amite City between LA Highway 1048 near Roseland and the Fluker rest area.
29 The community of Shiloh east of Highway 51 will be flooded. Whispering Pines Campground will be inundated. Back water will flood the southern end of Big Creek threatening homes at the lower end of South Big Creek Road in Amite. Amite Cemetery at Louisiana Highway 16 will flood. Lower sections of Independence east of Highway 51 will flood.
25 Water will cover Highway 40 near Independence. Access roads to Whispering Pines Campground will be under water. Gravel pit operations will be suspended and equipment threatened. Low-lying pastures and farmland near the river east of Highway 51 will flood.
